The International: The TRUE Value of Conflict (and the nature of “Globalization”)Alt
A fictional account which gives one an idea of how "Globalization" really works. - mpg -- A quote...."Insider trading prior to 9/11,  Put Options, the promise of the privatization of Iraq’s central banking system… (one of the first things Paul Bremmer did in Iraq when he was brought in as Bush’s head of the newly formed Coalition Provisional Authority, was to establish a privatized central bank) -- In May of 2003, just days after Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” statement…"

“United Nations resolution 1483 transferred the authority to authorize expenditures from Iraq’s oil revenue from the United Nations to the Coalition Provisional Authority… The International Advisory and Monitoring Board consisted of senior financial experts from the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank..."

"… After the U.S. military came in and took over Iraq, the CPA quickly began issuing many binding orders privatizing Iraq’s economy and opening it up to foreign investment. This was welcomed by many multinational corporations who saw the war as an opportunity to make billions of dollars in profits.“  Wiki"

"But even MORE valuable than the control of the banking system [of the] 2nd biggest oil producing country in the world, was the debt that the “Endless War on Terror” would produce for the banks. For hidden within that debt, is control. -- Imagine: Endless war against an invisible enemy, anywhere in the world, producing limitless debt… and ultimately, complete control." - bold by website editor - posted 08-07-09

“The International is a 2009 thriller film, directed by Tom Tykwer and starring Clive Owen and Naomi Watts. In the tradition of 70s conspiracy thriller films, such as The Conversation (1974) and The French Connection (1971), the film follows a pair that investigates corruption within a banking institution. Production began in Berlin in September 2007. The film opened the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival on February 5, 2009. The film was inspired by the Bank of Credit and Commerce International banking scandal.” – From Wikipedia

This is a brief transcript of the clip that was removed from YouTube.  It starts with the two main characters going to see Umberto Calvini at his company’s head quarters to ask why the IBBC bank is doing business with his firm.  The scene takes place with the three sitting down in an immense gleaming chrome and white foyer or office with sweeping views of the surrounding city below.

EW=Eleanor Whitman
LS=Louis Salinger
UC=Umberto Calvini

EW:  “Mr. Calvini, we’d like to know why the IBBC, a bank, would be purchasing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of missile guidance and control systems from your company?”

UC:  “The IBBC has purchased billions of dollars worth of silkworm missiles from the Peoples Republic of China, which they have resold to clients in the Middle East, contingent upon the missiles being equipped with Vulcan guidance systems.  My company is one of only two in the world which produce the Vulcan.”

LS:  “Who’s the other?”

US:  “Sunay…..Ahmet Sunay.”

LS:  “Of Turkish AreoTech…?”

EW  “But why is the bank committing so much of its capital and resources to the sale of these missiles?”

UC:  A long thoughtful pause while Mr. Calvini carefully considers what he’s about to say next. “It’s a test….small arms are the only weapons used in ninety nine percent of the world’s conflicts, and no one has the capacity to manufacture them faster and cheaper than China.  What Skarssen is attempting to do, is make the IBBC the exclusive broker of Chinese small arms to the third world, and the missile deal is the gateway transaction.”

LS: “Yeah but billions of dollars invested simply to be a broker, there can’t be that much profit for them?”

UC:  “No…this is not about making profit from weapons sales” he says shaking his hand dismissively while leaning back in his chair and straightening his tie. “It’s about control….”

EW:  “Control the flow of weapons….control the conflict.”

UC: “No” he says while shaking his head, “no…..no….”, he says again. “The IBBC is a bank, their objective isn’t to control the conflict, it’s to control the debt that the conflict produces.  You see the real value of a conflict….the true value, is in the debt that it creates.  You control the debt….you control everything.”

UC:  A long pause while Eleanor Whitman and Louis Salinger consider what Mr. Calvini has just said.  Mr. Calvini seeing their dismay asks them, “You find this upsetting yes?  But this is the very essence of the banking industry, to make us all, whether we be nations, or individuals, slaves to debt.” -- mpg
