Poisoned spy blames Putin for his death
Alexander Litvinenko (the decedent) said, Putin did it.

Russian lawmakers, state-controlled TV point finger at tycoon in ex-spy's death
Russia says tycoon Boris Berezovsky (Litvinenko's friend and financial backer) did it.

Maybe Israel did it.  (the Mossad gets blamed for a lot of stuff, for a very good reason)

There have been several critics of Syria and Russia who've been murdered recently, Anna Politkovskaya, Rafik Hariri and Alexander Litvinenko

Either Putin, Bashar al-Assad and their respective security services got a severe case of the stupids, or Israel deserves a lot of respect.  To totally discredit Syria's sudden rise in influence caused by Hezbollah’s recent victory with a copy cat replay of the al-Hariri assassination which forced Syria out of Lebanon so Israel could launch it's long planned invasion while at the same time hobbling Putin and any support he'd be able to give Iran regarding Israel’s planned attack against that country would be quite a coup.

On the other hand Putin and Bashar al-Assad are pretty ruthless characters. Neither one likes those whom they would call "traitors".

It's a toss up.

Update - 11-27-2006

It may not really be a toss up, Israel probably killed Rafik Hariri, they might be involved with the other two murders.

Considering Cheney's activity in Saudi Arabia, the Democrats hard line and unwavering support for Israel, the US's negotiations with the Sunni separatists, Al-Qaeda up[ing] anti-Iranian rhetoric , the US turning Afghanistan over to NATO so it can concentrate on Iran, the pending Maliki coup in Iraq, Olmert's recent meeting with Bush and what is contained in the article Killing for a civil war  a quote...."Sunnis see Shiite government, not U.S., as main foe", there is a distinct possibility the US is about to finally make it's move and "flip Iraq."

What is meant by "flipping Iraq" is that the US will finally get to align Iraq with the rest of the Middle East's geopolitical map, broadly speaking the US, Saudi Arabia, al-Qaeda  and its conservative Sunni/Wahhabist Arab allies against Iran, Hezbollah and its Shia allies.

After purging the Sunnis from Iraq's government and than training, arming and encouraging the Shia in the Interior Ministry to torture and kill the Sunnis thereby creating a never ending well spring of hatred and fear, the US will now make its move, switch sides and back the Sunnis against the Shia.

They'll do this while Putin and Bashar remain "conveniently" bogged down defending themselves from a growing list of accusations coordinated of course by Britain the US and Israel.   Simultaneously Israel will begin another series of incursions into Lebanon to finally destroy Hezbollah in anticipation of mounting their first strike against Iran, during which the US will play to Syria's Sunni majority while pressuring Bashar with their ongoing investigations and possible economic sanctions.

All of this in an effort to cut away Russia's and Syria's support for Iran and split the Middle East wide open between Sunni and Shia factions in a never ending war that will last at least ten years.....just as Mr. Reficul said they would.

It appears that the "flipping of Iraq" has failed for now (see articles below) and has become the "The Flipping of Iraq - Interruptus" but as soon as the Bush administration can create sufficient terror amongst the Sunni, they'll flip them and launch their long planned assault against Iran.
