Stock Market Meltdown
Must Read - War Warning - A quote...." The American people know intuitively that something is fundamentally wrong with the economy. They just don’t know the details or the extent of the damage. Decades of neoliberal policies have inflated the currency, broadened the wealth gap, and destroyed manufacturing. Workers can no longer buy the things they produce because wages have stagnated through a stealth campaign of inflation which originated at the Federal Reserve. When wages shrink, prices eventually fall from overcapacity and the economy slips into a deflationary cycle. This downward spiral ultimately ends in depression. So far, that's been avoided because of the Fed’s massive expansion of cheap credit. But that won’t last."

"Economic policy is not “accidental”. The Fed’s policies were designed to create a crisis, and that crisis was intended to coincide with the activation of a nation-wide police-state. It is foolish to think that Greenspan or his fellows did not grasp the implications of the system they put in place. These are very smart men and very shrewd economists. They knew exactly what they were doing. They all understand the effects of low interest rates and expanded money supply...."  - bold/italics by web site author

Editors note:  Most probablyTuesday's 07-24-07 market action is part of a correction down to the 200 day moving average on all indices with a rebound thereafter, IF however it is not, and this activity really is the start of a premature and early end to the ten year "credit/contraction" cycle  (this editor thought it would end in 2008) you can expect a major "fortuitous" attack on the US within the next 30 to 90 days given the current up-tempo in War Warnings and War Alerts during the last three weeks..

Therefore if Tuesday's 07-24-07 activity is any indication that this current "ten year cycle" is coming to an end, it should be considered a Red War Warning - mpg  - posted 07-24-07

Constant Craven: Democrats Go Belly-Up Again
Must Read - A quote...."I had it in mind to write an angry piece denouncing the Congressional Democrats for their latest sell-out to the Bush Tyranny, legitimizing a warrantless spy program so blatantly illegal that not even the rubber-stamps of the super-secret FISA court could stomach it. But upon reflection, I don't see any point in yet another thunderous blast at these moral cretins masquerading as political leaders."

Democrats' responsibility for Bush radicalism
Must Read - Related article - A quote...."It is staggering, and truly disgusting, that even in August, 2007 -- almost six years removed from the 9/11 attacks and with the Bush presidency cemented as one of the weakest and most despised in American history -- that George W. Bush can "demand" that the Congress jump and re-write legislation at his will, vesting in him still greater surveillance power, by warning them, based solely on his say-so, that if they fail to comply with his demands, the next Terrorist attack will be their fault. And they jump and scamper and comply (Meteor Blades has the list of the 16 Senate Democrats voting in favor; the House will soon follow)."

Dems in Senate Once Again Enable Bush and Cheney to Spy on Us: The GOP Three-Pronged [Attack]
Related article - A quote...."Bush is as low in the polls as a president has historically gone. He and Cheney are one door away from being nailed with multiple counts of illegal activity – and that’s just from what is visible to us at this time. God knows what is still hidden below the tip of the iceberg.  -  Amidst this sordid unraveling of a corrupt administration that is intent on destroying democracy and the Constitution, the Democrats in the Senate give Bush more legal power to spy on us!  -  This is democracy committing suicide."

The United States Of America Is Dead
Related article - A quote...."The Constitution and Bill of Rights are dead. Incredibly, just as was the case when Rome's Senate voted to make Caesar the Emperor, the United States' Senate voted to surrender the rights and liberties of every American citizen. By a margin of 60-28, the Democratic-led Senate gave George W. Bush the unconstitutional authority to spy, without warrant, on whomever he chooses. That includes U.S. citizens, but everyone is pretending that isn't the case."

Democrats Revert to Form
Related article - A quote...."Democrats in Congress, still in full cowering mode, are about to hand the most unpopular president in the history of polling even more power to spy, unchecked, on Americans, despite clear evidence that the president has abused that power for the last six years, and despite his refusal to even answer questions about what those abuses have been to date."

The Dems Disheartening Cave to Bush on FISA
Red War Warning - Related artilce - A quote...." It seems clear that the Democrats are terribly frightened of getting in the way of the administration on anything that can be used by the Rovian propagandists to blame them for any kind of future disaster, however flimsy and unfounded that blame might be.' - bold/italics by website author

The DemoRepubs know, they really truly do know....what's coming.

The item "Restore the FISA Act", was act number four (#4) on the Thirty Four Acts to Restore Americans' Rights.  --    The craven DemoRepubs have not only failed to condemn Bush for illegally violating FISA....they have now (after the fact) given him their sanction and blessing to continue his criminal activities.

The DemoRepubs violation of the US constitution is now Act thirty five (#35) on Thirty Five Acts to Restore Americans' Rights. - mpg

Blinded by the Story: Liberals and Progressives as Political Creationists
Related article - A quote...."The vanishingly small number of Americans who genuinely desire liberty and peace, and who also understand what those great values require in terms of both political theory and political reality, have desperately grasped at any sign, no matter how miniscule, that a sufficient number of their fellow citizens might awake in time to prevent the ultimate catastrophe. There is no reason of any significance to find such signs any longer.  -  Americans now reside in the Land of the Living Dead. For the moment, the dim, blurred forms of a constitutional republic remain, but they are entirely empty and drained of life and vitality. We continue to go through the meaningless rituals of elections, many of us trying to convince ourselves that one party might be even a slight improvement over the other."

The Deepening Criminal Cover-Up of Ohio’s Stolen 2004 Election
A quote...."The illegal destruction of federally protected 2004 election materials by 56 of 88 Ohio counties has become a fraudulent “dog ate my homework” farce of absurd justifications and criminal coverups.  -  The mass elimination of the critical evidence that could definitively prove or disprove the presumption that the 2004 election was stolen has all the markings of a Rovian crime perpetrated to hide another one. Indeed, under Ohio law, that’s precisely what must be presumed here."

Truthdigger of the Week:  California Secretary of State Debra Bowen

Bush’s Executive Order on Lebanon Even Worse than the One on Iraq
A quote...."George W. Bush is churning out executive orders and Presidential directives just as fast as Dick Cheney’s lawyers can fill up yellow legal pads.  -  The power that he is asserting—no, grabbing—with these executive orders is astonishing and alarming. Such power imperils our liberties and our democratic system of government."

The Secret Behind the Sanctions - How the U.S. Intentionally Destroyed Iraq's Water Supply
Must Read - From the history file - posted at ICH - A quote....Over the last two years, I've discovered documents of the Defense Intelligence Agency proving beyond a doubt that, contrary to the Geneva Convention, the U.S. government intentionally used sanctions against Iraq to degrade the country's water supply after the Gulf War. The United States knew the cost that civilian Iraqis, mostly children, would pay, and it went ahead anyway.  -  The primary document, "Iraq Water Treatment Vulnerabilities," is dated January 22, 1991. It spells out how sanctions will prevent Iraq from supplying clean water to its citizens."

Married to the Mob: Only Impeachment Will Get America a Divorce
A quote...."Last week, we were watching the original "Godfather" film on cable television, and – being BuzzFlash – we couldn’t keep our head from popping with political analogies.  -  BuzzFlash was – on an ongoing basis – one of the first websites, back in 2001, to compare the Bush and Cheney administration to an organized crime family. Top US general says he's received plan for complete Iraq withdrawal
A quote...."MSNBC's Hardball reported Wednesday that Defense Secretary Robert Gates was recently "in Kuwait, scoping out what will at some point be a critical staging ground for a US exit plan from Iraq."  -  According to correspondent Jim Miklaszewski, "Military officials in Kuwait suggest that they could easily handle the 160,000 troops in a matter of months. But that would be extremely risky, because a hasty retreat would increase the troops' vulnerability to attack. And then there's all that equipment – one million tons – that would have to be driven out of Iraq and shipped out of Kuwait by sea. ... It could take two years for a complete withdrawal."

The calamity of disregard
A quote...."In the run-up to war, senior British security and intelligence officials as well as diplomats made it clear that they were strongly opposed to the invasion of Iraq - though not clear enough. Why now, why Iraq, they asked; it would merely increase the terrorist threat, as the joint intelligence committee warned ministers less than a month before British troops and bombers joined the US attack on the country. Concern in Whitehall was shared by some perspicacious Americans, including General Tony Zinni, the former head of US central command, which is responsible for operations throughout the Middle East. He called it the wrong war, fought in the wrong place, at the wrong time."

Antiwar voices aren’t necessarily pro-peace
Must Read - A quote...."In most countries that come to mind, there seems to be a very strong direct correlation between being antiwar and being pro-peace. Not in the United States.  -  In our America, being antiwar has little correlation with being pro-peace. It seems that much of the antiwar sentiment is more an anti “how the war is being conducted” with little or no moral basis or consideration to the universal concept of peace. It was true during the Vietnam War years and it is true today, as America resolutely pursues its imperial destiny.

Japanese government suffers major defeat in upper house elections

Or so Israeli officials have been declaring for months as they and their American allies try to persuade the doubters in Washington that an attack on Tehran is essential. And if the latest media reports are to be trusted, it looks like they may again be winning the battle for hearts and minds: Vice-President Dick Cheney is said to be diverting the White House back on track to launch a military strike."

SCO is primed and ready to fire
A quote...."It may seem improbable that a regional cooperation organization commences its annual summit against the backdrop of military exercises. The European Union, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the African Union, the Organization of Latin American States - none of them has ever done that.  -  Therefore, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is indeed making a very big point by way of holding its large-scale military exercises from August 9-17. The SCO is loudly proclaiming to the international community that there is no "vacuum" in Central Asia's strategic space that needs to be filled by security organizations from outside the region."

Distrusting the Russians (Again)

A quote...."....the administration - particularly the vice-president, Dick Cheney - and the oil lobby are enraged that the oil law is stalled. The main reason is not that the Iraqi government and parliament are a lazy bunch of Islamist incompetents or narrow-minded sectarians, as is often implied. MPs are studying the law more carefully, and have begun to see it as a major threat to Iraq's national interest regardless of people's religion or sect.  -  This is the second bit of good news from Iraq. Civil society, trade unions, professional oil experts and the media are stirring on the oil issue and putting their points across to parliament in the way democracy is meant to work. The oil unions have held strikes even at the risk of having leaders and members arrested."

The New Turn - Washington's Orwellian foreign policy maneuver
Must Read - A quote...."To understand what is going on with the $60 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and a number of small Gulf potentates – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the UAE – we have to go back to Seymour Hersh's last piece in the New Yorker, "The Redirection," which revealed, among other things, that the U.S. is funding Sunni radical groups possibly linked to al-Qaeda in Lebanon and in the Eastern reaches of Iran. It's all part of a new turn in American foreign policy in the Middle East, toward the Sunni "mainstream" and away from our former Shi'ite allies-of-convenience in Iraq. Having smashed the Ba'athist regime and handed Mesopotamia over to the Iranians, the Americans are taking a U-turn and aligning with their former enemies in readiness for the next war of "liberation" on the neocon agenda: the battle for Iran."

Bomber Obama: My Own Personal Terror War
Must Read - "What would be the best way to pull America -- and the world -- out of the dizzying spiral of the "War on Terror," which has spread death, destruction and extremism across the globe?  -  Why, invading Pakistan, of course! Yes, sending American tanks, troops and warplanes into the only Islamic nation with a nuclear arsenal -- and a large, angry, powerful and growing fundamentalist movement to boot -- would obviously be an act of wise and prudent statecraft."

If he can just 'win' the primary (s)election process, and then the (s)election process after that, what's it called...oh yeah, the Presidential (s)elections, he'll bring an end to the mindless massacring of innocent civilians for profit that has come to define the "war on terror", and the American people need never again be stirred out of their mind-numbing complacency by stories of small brown children being decapitated by a brave American teenager with a .50 caliber machine gun. I mean, Viet-nam and My Lai was containable, it was successfully pitched as an "American tragedy", but this Iraq business is getting out of hand! After all, the harsh realities of war 'over there' are meant to stay 'over there', not ooze out of the carefully manipulated American daily broadsheets and into the fragile mind of the average American."

A Very Private War

It recently opened a new facility in Illinois (Blackwater North) and is fighting local opposition to a third planned domestic facility near San Diego (Blackwater West) by the Mexican border. It is also manufacturing an armoured vehicle (nicknamed the Grizzly) and surveillance blimps"

And...."Company executives recently announced the creation of a new private intelligence company, Total Intelligence, to be headed by Black and Richer. Blackwater executives boast that some of their work for the government is so sensitive that the company cannot tell one federal agency what it is doing for another."

The markets are getting bigger, information is moving faster, flows are larger, and trade and capital markets have continued to integrate,” Rubin writes in his book In an Uncertain World. ”It’s also important to point out that no one can predict in what area—real estate, emerging markets, or whatever else—the next crisis will occur.” A recent study by the Brookings Institution confirms Rubin’s fears: there have been over 100 financial crises over the last 30 years."

Disaster looms in land built for peace and harmony
A quote...."Politicians fear civil war as Musharraf's regime is battered by suicide attacks, civilian revolt and American threats  - Decorum was abandoned as accusations ricocheted between the wood-panelled walls of Pakistan's national assembly on Monday night. "Murderers! Murderers of innocent people!" screamed an MP from a religious party, his yellow turban shaking as he wagged a finger towards the government benches."

Mind you the US government is responsible for much of this, it's support for the Saudi Royals who have financed the madrassas in Pakistan and many Jihadists including bin Laden's followers, it's connivance with Pakistan's ISI in supporting the Taliban, it's own contributions of billions of dollars to these movements over the last twenty years not mention it's encouragement to these two governments to also contribute substantially to these groups has contributed to the potential breakdown of Pakistan’s government.

This resulted in a huge gold drain that brought an end to a very poorly devised pseudo-gold standard.  On August 15, 1971, Nixon closed the gold window and refused to pay out any of the remaining 280 million ounces of gold; but not without devising a new system for the dollar hegemony to spread."

Those who think this crew will quietly walk away from power are simply not paying attention.  -  The real question is not how or when they might do it. It’s how, realistically, we can stop them."

A quote...."Most money being made today is from the financial transactions—the interests, the fees, and the creation of new kinds of exotic financial products that parse debt and resell it. Dealing in debt is quite lucrative. None of this actually produces wealth; it merely redistributes it more and more to the people at the top who have the money to lend.  -  The seventies stagflation were produced when the government stopped printing money to pay for the Viet Nam War and will happen again when this war ends. But it may happen sooner because as the economy becomes less secure and deflation becomes an eminent threat, China, Japan and Middle Eastern oil countries that are buying that debt may decide the Euro may be a better bet. The Prospects for Fascism in America
Must Read - A quote...."Fascism requires a radical departure from the societal status quo, thus becoming a complicated maneuver for the elites to pull off. The Social fabric of a nation ridden with class-conflict is always delicate, especially in the turbulent economic times that fascist-orientated groups come into prominence. The difficulty increases when one considers that fascism is the expressed interests of the corporations and banks— pushing their agenda requires the rest of society take a back seat or be herded to the war front; this creates tension and revulsion, a tougher balancing act is hard to imagine. The forms these conflicts have taken in history have been numerous, mixing different doses of propaganda and repression, always yearning for that most effective of combinations. Thus far, the politicians of the US have been uninspiring chemists.  -  Undoubtedly, 9/11 proved to be a suspiciously convenient pretext for unleashing the countless fascist policies long-planned and demanded by the upper echelons ( for the sake of time, lets just say that that day was full of ‘inconsistencies’) The extremely useful propaganda that resulted from 9/11 scared enough Americans into accepting 2 ½ wars (counting Lebanon); but we have been told that more war is on the way, and the elites are clear out of maneuvers, there’re incredibly off-balance to say the least."

OK Folks, let's list out the countries shall we.  In just the last six years the Bush administration has, bombed, invaded, conducted military operations against, or is having Israel conduct such operations against, the following countries; Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Lebanon (Israel) and the Palestinians (Israel).

Per plans drawn up long ago by our nation’s elites the Bushists are currently getting ready to conduct additional operations against Iran (Israel & the US), Syria (Israel & the US), Lebanon – round two - (Israel), Pakistan, and even possibly Turkey.

The Bush administration has stated it isn't going to intervene in Turkey against that country's wishes.  No of course not; because they’re going to "help" Turkey just like this administration has “helped” so many other countries throughout the Middle East….who knows, they may even decide they’ll have to give Turkey some of that famous “freedom and democracy” they've bestowed upon so many others in that part of the world.  Now there’s a thought.

Midsummer Market Meltdown: Is the End Near?
A quote....When you see people making vast fortunes in this economy, it is usually a good start to ask what the government did to allow for their success. In the case of the fund managers, a substantial chunk of their business comes from pension funds. Some of these pensions involve government money in the form of public employee pension funds. Others carry a government guarantee; so, if the fund managers blow the wad, the government picks up the tab. In both cases, it would be a good first step if regulators let the pension fund trustees, who hand billions of dollars to fund managers, know that they will lose their jobs if these investments don't pay off as promised. Ripping-off the public to make the richest people in the country even richer is not funny, and pension fund trustees must understand this."

A quote...."As constitutional scholar and former Reagan-era associate deputy attorney general Bruce Fein observes, that one claim, that the US itself is a battlefield, is enough to allow Bush or some future president to declare martial law, “since you can always declare martial law on a battlefield. All he would need would be a pretext, like another terrorist attack inside the US.”

Nightmare on Main Street: More on Bush's Anti-Dissent Order
Must Read - A quote...."Essentially, in this Executive Order the President is assuming unbelievably vast powers to simply sidestep normal criminal or civil procedure, and to operate quite explicitly on the basis of guilt by anticipation, guilt by pre-emption, guilt by association and guilt for any reason in the mind of the decider. There is literally no limitation on authority, except that the person's actual physical being is unaffected."

Incarceration Nation: The Rise of a Prison-Industrial Complex
A quote....

"I asked a man in prison once how he happened to be there and he said he had stolen a pair of shoes. I told him if he had stolen a railroad he would be a United States Senator" - Mother Jones

Consider this disturbing fact: the United States now has the world's highest incarceration rate outside of North Korea. Out of 1,000 people, more Americans are behind bars than anywhere in the world except in Kim Jong-Il's Neo-Stalinist state. The US has a higher incarceration rate than China , Russia, Iran, Zimbabwe and Burma - countries American politicians often berate for their human rights violations.

Something Happened on 9-11
A quote...."Strange how something happens and you're unaware that it "registers" with you. Later, perhaps, something will trigger that buried memory and things begin to fall into place."

Global warming blamed as China endures freak weather
A quote...."Global warming was under a fierce spotlight in China on Monday as forecasters said Shanghai was set for its hottest summer on record, while flood and drought wreaked havoc in other parts of the country."

Tomgram: Chip Ward, How Efficiency Maximizes Catastrophe
A quote...."....this has been "the wettest May to July period for England and Wales since records began in 1766." The recent "Great Flood of July" in southern England followed a somewhat similar June event in the north. As parts of the country are still submerged in the wake of torrential, tropical-style deluges (a month's worth of rain fell in a few hours), while record extremes of heat "roast" central and southern Europe, the subject of climate change is certainly on European minds -- and a group of scientists are evidently going to release a study in the journal Nature this week that claims "more intense rainstorms across parts of the northern hemisphere are being generated by man-made global warming."

Bush's Missile Defense vs. My Erector Set
A quote...."Judging by how the overwhelming majority of Americans simply dismiss President Bush whenever he seizes the podium to spout more nonsense and lies about his illegal, immoral invasion and incompetent occupation of Iraq - arguably the worst foreign policy crime and blunder in U. S. history - virtually every image of our swaggering punk president must now be entering American brains accompanied by the caption: "Warning: This pigheaded, lying screw up doesn't have a clue!"

The Second Treatise of Civil Government 1690 :

"That the aggressor, who puts himself into the state of war with  another, and unjustly invades another man's right, can, by such an unjust war, never come to have a right over the conquered, will be easily agreed by all men, who will not think that robbers and pirates have a right of empire over whomsoever they have force enough to master, or that men are bound by promises which unlawful force extorts from them."

"Should a robber break into my house, and, with a dagger at my throat, make me seal deeds to convey my estate to him, would this give him any title? Just such a title by his sword has an unjust conqueror who forces me into submission. The injury and the crime is equal, whether committed by the wearer of a crown or some petty villain."

"The title of the offender and the number of his followers make no difference in the offense, unless it be to aggravate it. The only difference is, great robbers punish little ones to keep them in their obedience; but the great ones are rewarded with laurels and triumphs, because they are too big for the weak hands of justice in this world, and have the power in their own possession which should punish offenders."

 -- *John Locke* - 1632-1704 -
